Scenic Ornamental Christmas with Colour INKspiration challenges #197

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

These colours are sooo lovely - and the image above the bed helped inspire my card!!

I've used the Ornamental Christmas Stamp set which has these fantastic lovely large swirly greetings!!  I can see me using this 'Merry Christmas' stamp so much!!

The stamp set also includes this fuzzy pine tree which worked spectacularly well for this fun stamped technique card.   The first thing I stamped was the large greeting so I knew where I could place my trees.  And then,  I stamped first with Night of Navy stamping a couple of times before reinking the stamp, and then did the same with the Misty Moonlight and finally a couple of Crumb Cake trees.

I then used a blending brush and added lots of sponged Misty Moonlight all around the edges of the card and especially along the bottom to give the trees a lot more depth.  AND then comes the fun bit!!  I flicked water all over the card to create little splodges, and then flicked very watered down Craft White ink all over the card too for a 'snowy' look.  Anything goes with this technique and it always looks great!

Inside the card are more stamped trees and sponging, but no flicking!!

My final touch for this very simple card was to add some Hues of Blues flowers over the front.

Give this technique a go!!  I'm sure you'll have a messy fun time!!

Funky Fold blog hop - with Elegant Pines Snowflakes

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented crafters who love dabbling with folds!!
We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless.
All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold.

I don't know the name of this fold - it is some sort of interlocking gate fold which works out really nicely when it closes up and locks together.

The card opens out with the writing panel in the middle and then both sides fold in with the overlapping parts linking together.
The card base is:
14.9 x 26cm scored at: 4, 8, 18, 22cm givinng you a central writing panel of 14.9 x 10cm
The overlapping panels are both 10 x 6.5cm each.  I also made the white inside panel the same size.

Here's a couple of photos showing the card from the top so you can see a bit of an idea how it locks together.  The panel on the right has been raised using Stampin' Dimensionals along the outside edge so the other piece can tuck underneath it.

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of amazing inspiration just for you!

Have you noticed the great sketches in the Mini Catalogue? CTC#540

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING the sketches on page 14 - what a great way to get inspiration started!!

I've used one of the scrapbooking sketches for my card layout.  There's the banner behind the elements and the three circles on each side as features.

I've adapated the banner using the Lable Me Grateful dies - the largest die works as my banner.  It wasn't quite big enough to span the full width of the card, so I snipped it in half and placed the words strategically over the top and you can't tell!!

My card base is one of the fabulous Christmas Greetings Mix and Match cards and envelopes which gives me a great starting point.  I have to admit that it was an interested challenge to work out what colours I wanted to use with this Garden Green background though!!

The stamp set is the fabulous Happy Place stamp set which has lots of options for greetings.  I love colouring in the word 'happy' using watercolour pencils and a wink of stella pen.  The stamping was done using Saddle Brown Stazon ink which is great for using watercolour.

Inside the card is a greeting from the lovely Label Me Grateful stamp set along with more gold foil leaf!

Up next is the extraordinary Peta

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great ideas!

Check out our Facebook group for lots more inspiration!

Mini Catalogue inspriation Let's Craft Together monthly blog hop

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented Australian crafters who love sharing with you!!

I hope you can tell which design has inspired me?  It's the one on the top right with the diagonal background featuring some lovely DSP designs.

My card features the fantasmaglorious Traditions of Christmas designer paper.  I've fussy cut another of the designs for my feature over the top of the diagonal pieces of DSP.

and I've made this card into a birthday carad using the With You in Mind stamp set.  Inside the card is some more of the fussy cut images from the paper.

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of amazing inspiration just for you!
