Inspired by Masking CTC#474

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

It's time for our weekly CASEING the CATTY inspiration for you!!  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we lovt to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogue.

This week, we are CASEING a Technique - there are about 8 pages of amazing techniques in our new catalogue and I love them ALL.  I am holding a class next week learning about MASKING - so our theme for this hop is perfect!!

I was inspired by the gorgeous butterfly card in the catalogue.  I used the masking tape exactly as it illustrated in the catalogue to create a frame around the edges of my white cardstock.  I also die cut the smallest circle from the Sylish Shapes dies for the moon shape.

I then used blending brushes to create a sky and sea (I did try my brayer as the catalogue did, but I was a total failure at that so went with something easier for me to teach!!!)

While the masking paper was still in place, I then stamped the fish and the reverse side of the fish with white ink to create a cloudy(ish) sky.  After I (VERY GENTLY) removed the masking paper, I then stamped the turtle half in and half out of the scenery.

I added some Wink of Stella for the moon and shine on the sea, and some gorgeous flat pearls.

Inside the card is very simple with some sponging - maybe I could have stamped some more little fish?  What do you think?

Please head over to my online store if you wish to see these products in more detail - and you can place your order anytime (if you're in Australia) while you're there (even if you're in your pyjamas!!)
And, if you can see yourself creating cards and sharing your love of papercrafts while inspiring others, perhaps you might be interested in joining my Stampin' Up! family - contact me to find out how.
