Tower Block Fun Fold Christmas Tree - check it out!!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented crafters who love dabbling with folds!!
We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless.
All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold.

This month, I have created a Tower Block card that I have converted into a geometric Christmas Tree!

This card is basically a square tube in the middle with panels on every side to create the 'branches'.

I was inspired by a blog post here but I have changed the measurements so that my card fits into a standard envelope when it folds flat.

I have also extended the inside 'tree trunk' to create the Christmas Tree.

To create my tree I've used the Season of Elegance designer paper and the Decorative Trees stamp set.

If you'd like to see how this card is made, check out this video.

The measurements for my card are:
Pecan Pie 10.5 x 14.8 cm scored at 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10cm
Old Olive 12 pieces 4.5 x 5.5cm
Season of Elegance designer paper 8 pieces 4 x 5 cm
Basic Beige 4 pieces 4 x 5 cm
Season of Elegance designer paper 12 pieces 4 x 2.5 cm

Please contact me if you would like the tutorial for this Fun Fold!

I hope you give this one a try!!

Welcome to the NEW CATALOGUE with the Let's Craft Together Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented Australian crafters who love sharing with you!!

Our theme THIS month is to introduce YOU to our NEW MINI Catalogue which starts TODAY!!  Woohoo!!

When you're flicking through this fun catalogue, stop at page 51 and check out the 4 different colourful ways!  I really really like the Christmas Chic colour scheme of Basic White, Pecan Pie and Night of Navy, but I've used a Christmas stamp set - Surfing Santa - to make a Non Christmas card to show it's versatility!!

If you check out this card in the catalogue, you should be able to see that I've actually CASED the layout as well as the colours.  My card is a little different in that the centre panel is narrower with a fun little opening detail.  I did do some fussy cutting for the sweet sea shell after colouring using Pecan Pie Stampin' Blends.  Inside the card repeats the stamping and theme from the front.  I hope you like it!

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of AMAZING creativity!!

Watercolouring Shaker Card - how fun is that!! CTC#485

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING a watercolouring technique, and I've been super keen to try the spritzing technique!

I've used Fluid 100 watercolour paper and some gorgeous trees from a stamp set coming VERY SOON in our Mini Catalogue - the stamp set is called Peaceful Evergreens.

I stamped 3 large trees with Old Olive, and then 3 small trees using Garden Green onto the Fluid 100 paper and THEN, I spritzed it like mad using water and our Spritzer!!

I also stamped the Falling Snow stamp set using Basic Beige - so you can't really see it, but it does give a lovely soft effect. I also flicked some Wink of Stella all over the panel after it had dried.   THEN, I thought this would be so much fun as a shaker card!!  Soooo I created a frame using the Countryside Corners dies, added some window sheet and then foam strips.  The Shakers are some loose snowflakes.

Such a super fun card!!!  I do like the spritzing technique and I have to say it really does a BRILLIANT job with these tree stamps!!

Up next is the extraordinary Rachel
