This week, we are CASEING from the Traditions of Christmas Suite - which is just stunning!!!  I love the traditional colours so much along with the glorious gold imagery and flowers in the paper.

However, I want to show my customers some flexibility in our stamp sets, and so I've created a totally different card from the same suite.  I've been inspired by the lovely card featuring the lovely coloured flowers on page 24 of the mini catalogue.

My first step was to use the lovely embossed mix and match cards and envelopes for the background textures.

I then coloured the image using Stampin' Blends in  Secret Sea, Cloud Cover and Crumb Cake.

I have used some of the glorious designer paper behind my focal point, but it's the much quieter B side of the paper!!

Inside the card repeats the same layout.

Prairie Grass Colour INKspiration #195

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

Abstract designs stress me a little - so I've opted for safety and used the lovely silhouette stamp set Prairie Grass with some blending for the Crushed Curry.

My card base is one of the lovely textured Embossed Designs Mix & Match Cards and Envelopes.

The greeting I have fussy cut from a complete phrase - I only wanted the first part of it!!  Easy to be selective with greetings when you can cut them up!

The crushed currey works so very well with the blending - I tried really had to add intensity of colour right on the edges.

And my final touch was some Smoky Slate pearls which are currently HALF PRICE and on the LAST CHANCE list!!  So if you like them, I'd recommend grabbing some quickly!!

and my project is inspired by the sweet gift box on page 50 featuring the Branching out bundle.

I love the gorgeous imagery of the branches and the foliage in this stamp set!!  And the coordinating dies are fantastic label shapes!  I've changed the tag detail from the gift box illustrated in the catalogue and made it a front feature for my card. 

and look at the amazing texture of the ribbon!!  This ribbon is from another suite in the catalogue called Autumn Toile but looks fabulous with these images!  It's called Irregular Weave Trim.

Funky Fold hop with a surprise accordion inside!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented crafters who love dabbling with folds!!  

We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless. 

All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold.

My card has been inspired by a card shown to me by one of my customers.  ON the outside it's a fairly standard card.

I'm using a new stamp set and die bundle from our Mini Catalogue - Branching Out combined with the lovely Country Woods paper.  

Inside the card is the fun accordion fold which pops up to give a lovely surprise.  I stamped the lovely branches across all 4 of the panels in the centre created from the Branching Out dies.  

I've left the last panel clear to leave room for the greeting.
