Traditional Christmas inspiration CI#199

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

I love these rustic tradtional colours - and I really love that gorgeous wreath on the dresser.

Soooooo, I started with the wreath idea and then I wanted to make a Christmas Swag, and then I wanted to add sparkle and texture!!!

I've used All the Velvet - white for the background, and the bow and leaves are also die cut using the gorgeous Velvet Specialty paper.

The process:
I added some Shimmery White Embossing Paste to the top of my Pressed Flowers embossing folder and then embossed the front panel of White Velvet specialty paper.
THEN, I die cut the gorgeous Velvet bow using the Christmas Greenery dies;
the two Pecan Pie pinecones using the Delicate Pines dies;
and all the leafery using the Delicate Pines dies and the Velvet specialty paper.  I created the leaves going in both directions by die cutting 2 on the velvet side, and then 2 onto the back of the paper so then they went in both directions to create the swag.
The greeting is stamped from the Jolly Holly stamp set and punched using the NEW Three Banner Punch.
And my final touch was some totally gorgeous Faceted Snowflake gems.

Inside the card is a similar layout stamped using the Delicate Pines set for the swag, and the words comes from the Jolly Holly stamp set.

I tried really hard to photograph all the shimmer with the embossing paste on the embossed background - hopefully you can see how gorgeous it all looks!!

Sharni's Chain Card Swap C

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn

Today I'm joining the amazing Card Swap Chain Blog Hop with 10 amazing Australian cardmakers.  Our blog hop today is a celebration of the amazing cards we sent and received when we embarked on a fun journey sending cards to each other over a period of months.  It's a card version of "Chinese Whispers".  Each of us designed a card and sent if off to one of the other participants. That person then CASED the card and sent their own version to the next person.  To CASE is to Copy and Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit.  Each person's card made it's way around all 10 of us until finally a verson came home to the designer.  And Now, we are sharing these gorgeous card designs with YOU.  Enjoy the amazingness of everyone's cards and designs.

Today we are sharing a wonderful card designed by Sharni  in Chain Swap C. Follow the blog hop ALL the way around to see the evolution of her gorgeous card.

I received a gorgeous and bright card in the chain, but then I really went monochromatic using the black and white Botanical Textures paper (which is currently on SPECIAL so if you want to grab it, be quick!).  The great diagonal design worked just marvellously with this paper!

The coordinating Textured Notes bundle has some totally gorgeous edged labels and I always seem to need more thankyou cards, so this worked really well.

Make sure you keep hopping to see this amazing evolution!!

Delicate Pines and Elegant PInes inspiration CTC#545

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING our ONline Exclusives collection.

And I have had a wonderful time creating with the Delicate Pines collection.

My insppiration comes from the white card on the right hand side above ..... I love the focus on the greens and the white on white effect.  I think it looks so elegant.

I did get carries away somewhat though..... I really love using the papers and celebrating all those greens (of course!!) and I had a wonderful time creating a fun fold card featuring this suite.

The writing panel on the inside of the card looks more like the inspiration project from Stampin' Up!.  I love the way the leafy snowflakes can be stamped interlocked with different colours!!

The finished effect is just glorious!!

This is a fun gatefold which is a brilliant way to show of glorious papers!!

My finishing touch was some super cute stamped and die cut snowflakes onto White Velvet - swoon!!

Up next is the extraordinary Monique

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of great ideas!

Check out our Facebook group for lots more inspiration!

Another Fabulous Funky Fold Blog Hop!!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented crafters who love dabbling with folds!!
We are a group of like-minded paper crafters who love to make cards with funky folds. Funky actually means "modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way"... so we are featuring cards that are not your usual rectangle/square portrait or landscape style. Think 'easel', 'pop-up', 'gatefold', 'z-fold', 'shaped' or 3D cards etc. The list is endless.
All Blog Hops have an 'anything goes' theme using any type of 'funky' card fold.

This Funky Fold is a fabulous way to use stunning papers and I love it's simplicity!!

The front of the card is very standard, but when you open the card you see the surprise inside.

There's a designer paper concertina fold inside the card - a brilliant way to use all the glorious papers in your stash.

On one side of the card is a little writing panel.

This Christmas Card is based the designs in a tutorial teaching this Funky Fold - a gift for people who order through my online store here:  Handmade by Julia Quinn

Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of amazing inspiration just for you!
