A bit of old and new - LCT blog hop

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm hopping with an awesome bunch of talented Australian crafters who love sharing with you!!

This was an interesting challenge this month - to show off something new AND also use something OLD from our collections.

I'm using the new Modern Christmas Suite which is available from this week, along with an OLD Christmas stamp set - Decorative Trees.  The Decorative Trees set has been one of my favourites for Christmas greetings!

These gorgeous gold hoops are part of the Modern Christmas Suite which features this fun black and white paper with a pop of Gold, and

Christmas sneak peek inspired by the Annual Catalogue CTC#535

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING the Annual Catalogue - totally open ended with so many choices!

Eventually, the decision was made for me by the arrival of NEW products coming next week.  My inspiration is the wreath detail on the card in the catalogue along with the combination of ribbon and bakers twine near the greeting.

I've used the gorgeous Traditions of Christmas Suite which includes the lovely Traditional Wreath embossing folder, the amazing Traditional Labels bundle and the Christmas Greenery bundle.

The Christmas Greenery stamp set is a two step stamping set which means you can quickly and easily fill in the images without colouring everything.  I have added some more Stampin' Blends Daffodil Delight to the centres of the Lemon Lolly flowers though, to add more depth.

I love the way the gorgeous greetings all work for the die cut labels!  There are so many great choices!

Inside is some more stamping.

O Holy Night Watercoloured CI#194

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight I'm joining in with the Colour INKspiration crew and our awesome colour combination!!

I've used these colours to watercolour a brand new stamp in my stash.

This is one of the stamp sets coming in our Mini Catalogue starting next week on 3rd September.  It's called A Child is Born and has some gorgeous words as well as this lovely line art.  So, I pulled out some watercolour paper, and Saddle Brown Stazon, and started colouring.

I put a splodge of each of the colours onto a large stamping block and got started!  I used the Secret Sea for Mary as she's often depicted in blue, and I used the Fresh Freesia for Jesus as purples are a royal colour.  Joseph's tunic was able to achieve a deep Soft Sea foam because I used the Soft Sea Foam Ink Refil giving a much darker colour.

See the colour of their hair and the staff, as well as the ground?  This brown was athe result of mixing Secret Sea with Calypso Coral - so I only used the colours of the challenge for all the watercolouring!

I really enjoy watercolouring on the Fluid 100 paper because you can build up many layers of colour which helps create definition in the image.

Inside the card I've stamped using the Secret Sea and very carefully used the brown ink I created to colour the manger.  My cardstock for inside is some Basic Beige.  The Designer Series Paper in the back ground is the Peaceful Garden paper and the starry background worked rather nicely I think!

My final touch was torn edges on my image, some twine wrapped around the base and a large Drusy embellishment for the star.

Eclipse Technique Florals in Bloom CTC#534

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING some of the amazing projects in our catalogue featuring dies or punches.

My card has been inspired by the gorgeous projects in the Florals in Bloom Suite collection on page 41.

The paper was my first starting point for the colours - which are Bubble Bath combined with Blackberry Bliss.

This is another card in our Eclipse card technique class - this time featuring the amazing die cut word.  Under the gorgeous paper is 3 layers of Blackberry Bliss die cut so that the layers work to make the raised effect.

I really like the effect of the little words overlapping the large die cut word - and this was inspired by the gorgeous projects in the catalogue.

Would you like to give this type of card a try?
