Fun Backbround Scrapbooking Techniques just for you!

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Today is Scrapbooking Global day!! Each month we share some great inspiration for you1!

This month the amazing Caz Hurst has a really cool challenge for us!  The theme is all about background texture and stencils.

I've created my own stencils and used masking for my background detail for this double page spread.

The first thing I did was to die cut all of the clouds from the Adventurous Sky dies using the Masking paper.  I stuck these dies across the top of my page AND a piece of cardstock for my horizon edge, and then used a blending brush and Azure Afternoon to colour the sky.

After I'd done this colouring for the sky, I then removed the masks I'd made from the dies, and then stamped the clouds into the spaces.  I used Azure Afternoon ink but stamped off a couple of times first so that the colour was much lighter.

I then changed over my horizon line mask piece of cardstock to cover the sky, and then used a blending brush and Azure Afternoon AND Summer Splash ink for the water of the sea.  This time I used a lot more ink to give solid colour.

After I took away the horizon mask I think spritzed all my blending using water and the spritzer for some little splotches of white colour.  I then stamped the cute fish using Summer Splash and the Sea Turtle stamp set.

THEN, I created another stencil using the Gone Fishing dies and the fish shape to cut out a bunch of fish using Window Sheet.

To create the fish I used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste and repeated the stenciled fish all the way along the bottom of my pages.  I also added a little Summer Splash ink using a blending brush.

After all that background work, then I didn't want to do too much else!!  So I stamped and cut a couple of turtles, and create journalling panels from the Greetings of the Season dies.

And here is my scrap cardstock that I used for my horizon mask, and the cloud masks and also I used this scrap for all the stamping off too!! (behind the scenes work!!)

I really hope YOU are inspired to try this!!
Make sure you keep hopping to see lots of AMAZING projects!
