Decorative Trees Inspiration CTC#495

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Tonight you get to enjoy our amazing CASEING the CATTY blog hop.  To CASE is to Copy And Share Everything or to Copy And Selectively Edit and we love to CASE from our amazing Stampin' Up! catalogues (catty!)

This week, we are CASEING a project featuring dies.

I have been having a great time playing with the Decorative Trees dies, and this gorgeous little box tree ornament on page 42 of the Mini Catalogue got me thinking......

I decided to create a gift box using the Book Treat Boxes and add a tree to the front.

The treat box is covered with the glorious Season of Elegance designer paper which comes in fantastic colours.  I love this version in the Cherry Cobbler!

I then die cut the tree elements using Gold Foil and the Festive Shimmer paper so the tree REALLY sparkles!!

I had to add the white circle for the box closure - the catch just slips underneath it - and it also made the tree stand out a lot more against the same colour background.

And THEN, I thought I'd have a little fun and make a bouncy element of surprise when you open the gift box!!

I die cut a smaller tree and mounted it onto white again punched using the Heartfelt Hexagon instead of a circle.

To create the bouncy surprise, I concertinaed a long long strip of cardstock and adhered it behind the tree.

Here's the Pretty Peacock version along with the Cherry Cobbler.  Which is your favourite?

I love the little surprise inside the box when you open it! (not very practical for a gift though!!)

Up next is the extraordinary Monique
