How do you do masking?

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Today, my card is all about masking and leaving a lovely white background image - with the use of the amazing Stampin' Up! masking paper.

I've also used a Sale-a-bration stamp set for this technique - Detailed Dogwood - which is a FREE level 2 item in our offerings from now until the end of February!  It's full of amazing shabby chic images which are fun for stamping collage!  

The greeting is from the Notes of Nature stamp set which is also a great new stamp set!!  

Inside the card continues the fun stamping!

How do you create your own DSP? CI#158

Hello and Welcome to Handmade by Julia Quinn.

Today is a colour challenge day!!  Check out these colours, and that photo!!  Just fabulous.

Soooooo, I came up with this fun accordian fold that I can create using 1 sheet of cardstock to make 2 cards!!  

BUT, it's a really great card for using Designer Series Paper, and I needed the project to fulfil the specific colours of our challenge!!  So, I had to create my own DSP!!  I lined up all the cut pieces for my card, and then merrily stamped along the bottom edge using the lovely Painted Lavender stamp set and the Fresh Freesia and Petal Pink, and then I used a blending brush around the edges.  

Because the Blueberry Bushel is such a bold colour with the other subtle ones, I decided to make it the feature element.  I added colour to my butterflies using a brayer and then stamped more butterflies from the Painted Lavender stamp set.  

The greetings come from the Perennial Postage stamp set which works as a suite companion to the Painted Lavender.

THIS card is actually my first attempt at my final card - much simpler without the extra sponging using the blending brush.

It gave me a great starting point for my more detailed card with the handmade DSP!

I was inspired by the wonderful Sweet Thoughts cards and Envelopes featured on page 44 of the catalogue.  I love pre printed cards and envelopes - it's one step already done!

I loved the butterfly detail featured on the Sweet Thoughts Memories and More cards so I replicated this with our Butterfly embellishments and a frame created using the Thoughtful Expressions dies.

The super pretty paper, ribbons and embellishments are ALL free Sale-a-bration rewards!!  

Inside I've stamped using some images from the ONline Exclusive stamp set - Garden Meadow.

Happy Birthday Scrap page with picture colour inspiration!

Hello and Welcome to our monthly blog hop!!

We are a bunch of crafty friends committed to inspiring you every month with some fun projects and inspiration!  

This month, we have a picture to inspire you!!  I have used these colours for a scrap page - and it really helped to get me started on my page!  

I have also used a lovely new stamp set and coordinating dies from the NEW Mini catalogue which starts TODAY!!  Woohoo!!

These colours were actaully good fun to work with - the Blackberry Bliss worked really well as a great frame for my photos.  And the combination of the Bubble Bath and Berry Burst looks really lovely with the Smoky Slate - and I added some silver glimmer too.

And the Blueberry Bushell was picked up beautifully by my Mum's shirt!!  I've also used it to stamp the journaling and write with the marker for the date.  

And the Pecan Pie is a wonderfully neutral colour for the background stamping and the outline for the teeny coloured flowers.  

And the title of the page was so easy with the Wanted to Say dies - great colours!!
